Alex was born in Poland Twp, Ohio in 1842. Parents were John and Mary Ague. Alex served with the 107th PA Inf. as a substitute in the Civil war. He also had two brothers that fought in the Civil War- George, who died of a small pox outbreak at Camp Chase near Columbus Ohio and Loverin who is buried in Clark Pa.Another brother, Edward lived in Youngstown Ohio until 1894.He had a sister Cornelia, with whom he lived until 1870. He married Mary Hays of Hickory Twp in 1871. Their son, George, was born that year. Son Edward, was born in 1874. Followed by daughters: Margaret-1877,Caroline(Callie)-1878,Clara-1882,Cornelia-1884. Son Scott-1886,Daughter Sarah(Sadie)-1888,son Charley-1890,daughter Edna-1893, Sons Robert-1894 and Willis 1896. Mary and Alex had one other unknown child.
Alex worked at the Mabel Furnace and lived on 7th street. Several of his chldren moved to Toledo where he died in 1911. He is buried at Willow Cemetery in Toledo. Edna married Samuel Bruno an Italian immigrant and they are buried in the same cemetery. Sadie married Samuel Modisher in Toledo. He died after being struck by lightning and she lost all of their children. Sadie remarried but killed herself shortly after. Cornelia married Eli Barlett and also lived in Toledo. Eli died from a bad blood transfusion.Sadie, Cornelia and spouses are buried in Forest Cemetery in Toledo.Son Scott served in the Army, retired and moved to Indiana. He is buried in Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown, Indiana. Son Charley lived in Warren , Ohio and is buried with his wife Nora in Oakwood in Warren.
