Born 1793 in Washington County, Pennsylvania

Enlisted when he was 20 years old and served in a company commanded by Captain Junkin.

He was under General Harrison one campaign in Ohio and two campaigns in Erie, being there when Commodore Perry gained his celebrated victory. William attained the rank of Captain during his service.

William Hill died 12 Jul 1851 in Sandy Lake and buried in Rock Springs Churchyard.
