George Bromley was the son of John and Sarah Montgomery Bromley of Mercer County. He was a brother to James M. Bromley who was also killed during the war.

He starved to death while captive at Andersonville Prison, Andersonville, GA, 5 Jun 1864. Buried at Andersonville National Cemetery; grave #1,654.
