John Elmer Bowen, 77, of 1438 Shields Road, Youngstown, Ohio, died of a heart ailment on Thursday, May 8th at 11:16 a.m. in Saint Elizabeth Hospital Medical Center. Mr. Bowen was born April 13, 1903 in Sharon, Pennsylvania, a son of Evan Reese and Mary Rainey Bowen, and came to Youngstown in 1933. He was a sub-station foreman for the Ohio Edison Company 45 years, retiring in 1968, and a member of Covenant United Presbyterian Church in Farrell. His wife Beulah Elizabeth Chisholm, whom he married December 19, 1925, died Aug. 7, 1971. He leaves a daughter, Mrs. James A. Irwin Jr. of Boardman; a son, Robert Elmer of Dunwoody - Atlanta Georgia; a sister Mrs. Maude Davis of Toronto, Ohio, five grandchildren; and a great grandchild. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday (May 10th) at the Davis-Velker Funeral Home where friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today (Friday May 9th).
