RECENT DEATHS: Mrs Mary Mason Bowser.
Mrs. Mary Mason Bowser, 79 years of age, died Thursday morning at her home in East Venango street, following an extended illness due to a heart condition. She had been in a critical condition for many months, but rallied again and again only to finally sleep(sic) away. Mrs. Bowser was a daughter of the late Hon. and Mrs. Samuel R. Mason. She had spent almost her entire life in Mercer, but had attended and been graduated from the Pennsylvania College for Women in Pittsburgh. Her husband, Herber B.Bowser, a prominent member of the Mercer County Bar, died many years ago, leaving her with two daughters, both of whom preceded her in death. She was a lifelong member of the First Presbyterian church and the pesent Presbyterian church of Mercer. Her maternal grandfather, Joseph Smith, had helped to organize and was a member of the first board of ruling elders of the First Presbyterian church in 1804 and her uncle, Joseph T. Smith, was its second pastor and served as moderator of the Presbyterian General Assembly in 1887. Mrs. Bowser is survived by a brother, Dr. W.C. Mason of Erie, and a sister, Miss Jennie Mason of Pittsburgh and by several nieces and nephews. Funeral arrangements will be announced later.
