Obituary, Mercer Dispatch, January 23, 1903
Janet M. Bowser: Although it was not unexpected, the people of Mecer received with sorrow yesterday morning the news of the death of Janet M. , elder daughter of Mrs. Mary M. Bowser. The cause of her death, which occurred at 6:30 o'clock, was consumption. About two years ago she suffered an attack of pneumonia from which she never recovered. Miss Bowser was born in Mercer in October 1882, and had spent her entire life here. She was educated in the local schools and was very popular, especially among the young people of the town. She is survived by her mother and one sister, Helen. The funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. They will be conducted by Rev. J. S. Duncan, pastor of the First Presbyterian church, of which Miss Bowser had been a faithful member for several years.
