M. Virginia HILDEBRAND, 57, Columbia Ave, Greenville, who had spent almost half a century in the nursing profession, died at 11:40am Thursday (1012089) at home She was 79. Miss Hildebrand was born in New Castle Feb 9, 1910 to Charles C and Chrystle MITCHELL Hildebrand. She was a 1927 graduate of the former Penn High School, Greenville, and graduate of Western Reserve University School of Nursing, Cleveland, in 1931. In 1951, she returned to earn her bachelor of science degree in nursing. Miss Hildebrand was director of nursing education at Augusta, GA, University of Medicine, leaveing there in 1943 to join the Army Nurse Corps during World War II. She was with the corps until 1946. She then went to work in the Methodist Nursing Mission Hospital in Huchow, China for two years. In 1973 she retired as executive director for Oregon State Board of Nursing. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Greenville; charter member of Greenville Historical Society; member of Friends of Library; American Nurses Assoc; National League of Nursing; and served on the National Blueprint Committee of American Nurses Assoc. Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. William H. (Betheny) RAUTIO, Montrose, Colorado; and Mrs. Howard (Hanna) DENHAM, Lexington, KY. A brother, Carl, preceded her in death. Contributions may be made in her memory to Greenville Public Library.
