Matthias Anderson, one of the oldest citizens of Mercer county, died Sunday night at his home in Jefferson township, after a long illness, aged 83 years. He was a son of the late Isaac Anderson, who came to Jefferson township from Beaver county in the early part of the last century, and had spend almost his entire life in this section. He had a wide acquaintance in the county and on account of his fine character and genial disposition was respected as admired by all who knew him. For many years he had been a prominent member of the Big Bend M.E. Church. He is survived by his wife and the following children; L.L., H.S and Pearce, of Sharon; William of Sharpsville; George and Mrs. Tillie Rickert of Greenville; Jones, of Jefferson township; Mrs. w.D. Smith of Fredonia; Mrs. William Stinegrabe, of Jefferson twp, and Mrs. Frances at home. One brother Milo Anderson, of Mercer is also living. Funeral services were held Tuesday at the family home followed by interment at the Zahniser cemetery.
