JONES ANDERSON, aged 70, of Jefferson Township, justice of the peace and tax collector, brother of P.C. Anderson , assistant cashier of the Farmers & Mechanics National Bank of Mercer died at his home in East Jefferson on Saturday evening. Mr. Anderson was born September 25, 1857, and had spent practically all his life in this county. He had served as tax collector of the township for 40 years and was one of the best known farmers of the community. He was a member of the Big Bend Methodist church.
Surviving are his widow, Bertha Patton Anderson; a son Merritt, at home four brothers, L.L. of Sharon, W.W of Sharpsville, M. M. of Greenville and P.C. of Mercer, and four sisters, Mrs W.D. Smith of Fredonia, Mrs. J.M. Rickard of Greenville, Mrs. Clara Steinrabe of Jefferson township and Miss Frances of Jefferson township. Funeral services were held at the BigBend Church, Tuesday at 2 p.m. with Rev. Mr. Bloomquist in charge.
