Anderson, Montrose M.

Montrose M. Anderson, 79, died at his home 370 Columbia Avenue at 7 a.m. Sunday, Jan 9, 1955 following a nine-month illness. Born in Jefferson Township, May 30, 1875, Mr. Anderson was a son of Matthias and Rachel Atkinson Anderson. He was twice married, his first wife, Sarah Jane Miller preceding his in death Dec 2, 1926. To this union were born two sons, Hollis K. Anderson, who survives and Victor M. Anderson who died in 1929. On June 5, 1928, he was married to Bertha Emery, who survives.
Mr. Anderson was retired after 30 years' service with the Bessemer and Lake Erie Railroad Company, where he was a carpenter foreman. He was formerly a member of Zion's Evangelical and Reformed Church and was a charter member of the Knights of Pythias, having been honored with a 50 year certificate last year.
In addition to his wife, at home, and one son Hollis K. Anderson Greenville he is survived by a step-daughter, Mrs. Fred. R. (Dorothy Emery) Sanborn, Aliquippa; four grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Clara Steingrabe, Mercer R.D., and Mrs. Matilda Rickert, Greenville.
Funeral services are to be conducted in the Reichard-Jordan funeral home by Dr. Peter Brath tomorrow at 2 p.m. Interment is to follow in Delaware Cemetery. The family will meet friends in the funeral home any time after 7 p.m. today.
