Former Sharon Man Commits Suicide
Despondent because of continued illness, George Wagner, of Delaware Grove, shot and killed himself in his home Wednesday, says the Greenville Record.
Wagner had been confined to the house about six months by illness. For several months his daughter, Mrs. Arthur McCurdy of Sharon, had been taking care of him.
Wednesday she went to call on a neighbor and left her daughter, Cora, in the house. Wagner, who had been confined to this room, made his way to the kitchen, where a shot gun was kept.
The daughter, alarmed by his actions, ran to notify her mother. When they returned to the house, they found Wagner lying dead in his room, shot through the heart.
Deputy Coroner Hogue, of Fredonia, rendered a verdict of death from injuries self-inflicted.
Mr. Wagner was born in the southern part of the state and came to Mercer County about 50 years ago, first settling in Sharon. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. McCurdy, and three sons. Charles of New Castle, John of Delaware Grove, and Robert of Akron.
