William G. Jones
William Griffith Jones, 83, highly regarded Wheatland resident, died at 12:15 a.m., today, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. T. R. Covington, Chestnut-st, Wheatland, following an illness of several months duration.
Mr. Jones was born Nov. 5, 1857, in Ebuvale, Wales. He came to this country early in life and had resided in Wheatland the past 70 years. He was a school director there for 20 years and served as truant officer for eight years. He formerly worked in local milols. He was a member of the Methodist church, K. of P., I. O. O. F. and Woodmen of the World. Mr. Jones was liked by everyone who knew him and his death has caused widespread regret.
He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Clara Covington and Mrs. Minerva Richardson; two sons, William G. Jones, Jr., and Lewis S. JOnes, all of Wheatland; four sistters, Mrs. Martha Walters, Pittsburgh; Mrs. Hannah Jones, of Brentwood, Pittsburgh; Mrs. Francis W. Jones and Mrs. George A. Hogue, both of Wheatland. He is also survived by 15 granchilcren and 12 great-grandchilcren. His wife preceded him in death 5 years ago, and his brother, Thomas JOnes, died last Wednesday.
Funeral Services will be held at the Covington home at 2 p.m., Friday, in charge of Rev. C. C. Mohney, assisted by Rev. W. E. Neuer.
Internment will be in Haywood Cemetery, West Middlesex.
