Will of Alexander Caldwell
1813 Crawford Co., Pa
In the name of God Amen I Alexander Caldwell of Crawford County Fairfield Township State of Pennsylvania being very sick and weak but in perfect mind and memory thanks be to God. Calling to mind the mortal ____ of my body and knowing that is appointed once for all men to Die do make Constitute and acknowledge this to be my last will and Testament. First and principally of all I recommend my soul into the hand of God Who give it and my body I recommend to Earth to be buried in a Christian manner at the Discretion of my Executors nothing doubting but at the general resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God who give it.and as touching worldly estate as it hath pleasured God to bless me with in this life with I give Demise Dispose all of the same in the following manner and form.
I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Rebeccah Caldwell after my Lawful Debts are paid off the remainder of all my moveable effects besides the one third of the profits of present improvement.
Also I give unto my beloved son David one Hundred Acres of land in Sandy Creek Township joining lands of John McCrackin on the west and John Caldwell on East and others North and South.
Also I give unto my beloved son Charles Caldwell one Hundred Acres of Land of the South East Corner of the Tract whereon I now live so as to include my present improvement.
Also I give unto my well beloved son James Caldwell one Hundred Acres of Land of the present Tract wheron I now live besides twenty five acres joining Ruff(?) Boyers(?) so as to include his improvement which he is now in possession of
also I give unto my well beloved son John Caldwell one Hundred Acres of Land of the Tract whereon I now live
also I give unto my grandson John Caldwells son Alexander fifty Acres of Land of the present Tract wheron I now live
also I give unto grand Child Rebeccah Caldwell providing she lives with her grand Mother Rebecah Caldwell while she lives fifty acres of Land of the Tract whereon I now live If she removes from her present abode to her fathers John Caldwell or any other place Before my wife Rebecah Caldwells Death then ____ fifty Acres of Land to be at the Disposal of her grand Mother at her Death
Also after the Hundred Acres that calls for my present improvements off belongs to Charles Caldwell is run(?) of then the other three Hundred is to be laid to the best advantage and heirs of the same to cast lots for their respective places
Also I nominate my son Charles Caldwell and Joseph Brushes son James Brush executors of this my last will and Testament
