McLean/ McClean/ McClain family

Submitted by gravelady on Tue, 04/01/2014 - 12:35

I am researching the John McLean family. The earliest record that I have for him is in Berkeley Cty, Va in 1771 with the purchase of property. He and his family then move to Mercer Cty, Pa. I find McLeans in Mahoning, Salem and Coolspring. From property records I know that John had a wife named Agnes however I do not believe that she survives long enough to follow the family to Pa. I found a marriage record between William McFate/ Tate and Mary McLean in Frederick County, Va. No other marriages for his family have been found. His will was probated in Mercer Cty and lists the following children: Rebeckah Snodgrass, John McLean jr, Thomas McLean, Agnes McLean, James McLean, and Mary McFate. I believe that he might have also had two other sons: Duncan and William. Duncan disappears from the Personal Property tax list for Frederick Cty by 1800. William shows up in the history of Cherry Hill Garden and Fruit Farm as being one of the first settlers of Shenango along with a J.R. McLean.
If anyone has any information regarding this family I would be very interested in communicating with you. Thanks

I am searching for the birth parents of James K. Dean born 1844 or 1846 in either Sandy Lake, Mercer, PA or in Wolf Creek, Mercer, PA. I believe he had a sister named Eliza and a brother named Amos.
