Spencer, Lewis, Sherwood Genealogy

Looking for any info on these names.
One was my great grandfather, Eli M. Spencer (also listed as Martin Spencer)
who was a pvt in Co. G, 100th PA Inf. in the Civil War. He served from 1864-1865, and per an 1890 Potter Co. Census, he did survive the war.
Looking for his earlier records which I believe leads into Mercer Co.
